I started to write the story of my first night in Bangkok a few years ago when I started the blog, and recently realized I never finished or published it.
And you could ask, is it since I’m ashamed of it?
No. It’s really quite an amusing one.
So why the hell did I never ever finished composing this post?
Most likely since I got sidetracked once again, or confused, like I was that night.
So let me tell you what occurred my very first night ever in Bangkok, and Thailand.
A bit of context
What was I performing in Bangkok?
Did I came for the hot girls, celebrations, smoking cigarettes weed on the island …
In fact, not at all. It was quite the opposite.
I first pertained to Thailand in November 2011, right after my first year as a bartender.
I was just 21 however currently burnout due to the fact that I worked excessive, drunk way excessive, and due to the fact that the woman I was totally in love with broke my heart again …
So I required to break the circle and to spend some time to focus on myself, far from all sorts of drinking and night life.
Here I was, on a plane going to Thailand, on my way to take some rest, consider my life, learn Muay Thai, and chill on the beach.
At least that was the strategy.
Landing in Bangkok
On the aircraft, I satisfied some individuals that were remaining at Khaosan Roadway, among the most well-known streets in the world for backpackers and travelers.
An insane location with tons of bars, clubs, loud music, drunk backpackers, laughing ballons, and hopefully … these men.
We remain in 2012, adding them as friends on Facebook didn’t concern my mind and I didn’t even use Whatsapp.
So we just prepare to satisfy at Khaosan around 9 pm.
One of my good friends has a home in Bangkok, in Silom, so I’m stating bye-bye to the men at the airport and get on my method to the apartment or condo to drop my bag prior to I join them in Khaosan.
If you haven’t been to Thailand or Bangkok before, the very first time you show up is rather an experience. Particularly if you’re traveling solo.
Going through the long line at the migration, seeing indications all over written with strange vermicelli, individuals speaking a language you can’t even from another location comprehend … it’s quite intense, especially after a long flight.
Then you get out of the airport, finally. And the weight of the heat drops on you.
Hot, worn out, confused, I get a taxi to go to Silom at my buddy’s home and get scammed by the taxi.
So far, it’s the normal first hour in Bangkok for anyone who’s going there for the very first time.
I reach the apartment or condo, drop my bag, and go directly to take a shower.
I can feel I’m tired however the adrenaline of being in a new location gets the finest of me.
I alter and get on my method to Khaosan.
First Time in Khaosan
As quickly as I get down the apartment I jump in a Tuk Tuk, since that’s most likely the method locals get around, and I’m heading to Khaosan.
I can’t keep in mind just how much I spent for the flight, most likely method too much, however I’ve made it to Khaosan, 1 hour late.
For anybody who never ever been to Khaosan Road in the past, how to describe it?
It’s truly noisy, jam-packed, there’s all type of smells and weird things going on … it isn’t like anything you’ve seen before.
Fried scorpions and spiders on sticks, flames coming from street food stalls, individuals getting massages in the street next to a live band and drunk backpackers drinking in containers … whatever cliché you get about Thailand exists.
I go up and down the street about 10 times searching for the people I met on the aircraft however I can’t discover them, and truthfully, I can’t actually remember their appear like.
There are simply too many individuals, and I’m too thirsty.
After about 1 hour, I give up. I go to one of the greatest bars in Khaosan roadway, order a beer, and look at people going nuts in the street.
When things get odd
Time’s passing, I have actually drunk about 3 big Leo (the most popular Thai beer) and I choose to play swimming pool. I play 2 games with various people and go back to my table.
That’s when a Thai lady approaches me and asks me if I wish to have fun with her.
I think twice, inform her I don’t have any cash, however she pays and insists for the pool, and for my beer.
I don’t know how numerous games or beers followed but I understand that by the time the bar is about to close I’ve lost the majority of the games and I’m quite drunk.
At this point, I’m not even sure what I’m doing here. I just keep drinking and playing swimming pool.
I can feel the thai women dating woman is getting closer and closer to me, making fun of everything I’m stating and she’s intoxicated also.
She’s a bit chubby, Thai Women Dating quite little, not truly my type, but at this point of the night (and in my life) I don’t really have a type any longer.
We kiss. And kiss again. And when the bar close she asks me if we can go to my hotel.
I tell her I live far away and there’s no way I’m bringing her to my room.
She asks me if I wish to take a room in Khaosan so we can have sex.
At this point, I end up being suspicious, so I inform her I don’t have any cash.
She provides to pay for the room. My cock agrees. And we go around looking for a short time room.
But every hotel we go to state no.
They’re either completely scheduled or I do not comprehend what they’re stating.
Then she resembles “I understand a hotel however it’s a bit far”. I resemble “I do not mind, however I don’t have any cash”.
She says “It’s fine, I’ll pay for it”.
So she stops a taxi, we get in, and I got no concept where we’re going.
I do not understand how long we stayed in the taxi, but I believe we spent a minimum of 30 minutes in there.
At this moment, I got no idea where I remain in Bangkok or what I’m doing there.
She stops for a minute to withdraw some money and came back with a handful of thousand baht notes, so apparently there’s enough cash to pay for the taxi, and the hotel.
Cool.
What is That Location?
The taxi finally takes a last turn and go into a parking, where someone closes a drape behind the taxi.
I got no idea where we are or what is that place.
That’s when I begin to feel a bit distressed.
Are people gon na come from behind the drape and beat me approximately take my money and my phone? Is this the method individuals get their kidneys stolen?
She pays for the ride, we get out of the taxi and we walk into a room where there are a bed, an unusual chair, and a restroom.
That’s the genuine image of the room
Now I think I understand where we are.
I understand it’s some sort of love hotel, but again, who the hell is she?
Why did she accept to spend for whatever? What’s the catch here?
She goes into the bathroom to “prepare”.
I look around and I begin to freak out. I understand I need to get out of there.
I knock on the door of the bathroom and ask “Do you have any prophylactics?”. She says “Yes, one in my bag”. So I tell her “Ok, I’m gon na go buy more at 7 Eleven”.
Before she got the time to respond to or get out of the restroom, I leave the room.
As I’m getting the eff out of there, press the curtain and walk rapidly to the main street close by, one guard who works there begins to chew out me.
Is he asking if I require anything? Is he pissed because he believes I’m leaving without paying (which I totally am)? No idea. I’m not stopping.
I wave my hand in the air to say: “I’ll be back soon” and keep walking truly fast to the street.
Then as quickly as I get here in the street and I get out of his sight, I start to run!
I most likely ran non stop for a minimum of 15 minutes, always looking back to see if no one was following me.
And no one was. Except for some street dogs.
The Walk of Pity
“The Walk of Pity” There’s no much better expression to explain that minute.
It has to do with 5 am now, the sun will rise, I’ve got no concept where I am, but I understand I’m far from home.
With the aid of the GPS on my phone that is working despite the fact that I do not have a SIM Card, I manage to discover my way back house.
I walked to return there. And it took me about 2 hours.
I still keep in mind to these days, that’s approximately what the walk I did I was:
At least that was an excellent way to discover some parts of the city I would have most likely never seen by myself.
And then I lastly made it “back house”.
There you have it.
That’s what occurred for my opening night ever in Bangkok and Thailand.
Rather a story.
But nothing compared to other nights I’ve had after that.
I think anybody who lived in Bangkok for a couple of years could write a book filled with stories you would not believe.
