Sarah Silverman slams stars who are still making films not striking

Sarah Silverman has slammed movie stars who are still making films.

The actress, 52, called out those who haven’t joined the strike with SAG-AFRA, choosing instead to keep working, and branded it ‘scabbing.’

In a video posted to Instagram on Friday, Sarah raged: ‘I’m f**king pissed,’ as she detailed her frustrations.

The comedian explained how she found out that friends of hers are continuing to work – specifically on independent films – and that the move will no doubt prolong the strike.

Sarah said she was unsure whether to be angry at the movie stars or at SAG for making interim agreements for indie films.

‘It’s scabbing!’ In an Instagram video on Friday, Sarah Silverman, 52, slammed movie stars who are still making films, choosing to keep working instead of joining the strike with SAG-AFRA

‘I’m f**king pissed!’ The comedian explained how she found out that friends of hers are continuing to work – specifically on indie films – and that the move will prolong the strike

Sarah said: ‘Can somebody please explain to me what I’m not understanding, because I feel f**king pissed off and I know I must just not be understanding something.

‘There are, like, 40 movies being made right now.Movie stars are making movies because they’re independent movies, and SAG is allowing it because…

‘If they do sell it to streaming, it has to be because streaming is abiding by all the things we’re asking for.

‘That’s just working. The strike ends when they come to the table and we make a deal in agreement. So that is gonna be what happens.

So, you’re just letting people make movies, and movie stars are making movies that you know the goal is to sell them to streaming…but the streaming service has to agree…

‘Yes that’s call the end of the strike, which is now gonna probably be exponentially prolonged, because they have movie stars making movies.

‘When SAG joined the strike, it’s [supposed to be], ”Movie stars aren’t making movies for you anymore, now what are you going to do?” Well, they’re making movies. What the f**k?

‘I got offered an indie movie, I f**king said ”no”, and so did a bunch of my friends, and now some of my friends are saying ”yes” and I’m really p**sed.

Frustrated: Sarah said she was unsure whether to be angry at the movie stars or at SAG for making interim agreements for indie films

Please explain to me why I shouldn’t be angry because people are making real deal sacrifice.People, writers, actors, crew people – all these people are sacrificing their livelihoods for this cause.

‘It’s called union strong, where we are all together. And when SAG joined the strike, we should see every actor out there striking along…

‘Because you have insurance because of your union, and you get residuals because of your union, and all these things that you get because of your union and you can’t stand with your union.

‘So I don’t even know that I’m mad at these movie stars that are making these independent movies are obviously gonna go to streaming, or I’m mad at SAG for making this interim deal for these indie films.

‘What the f**k?t’s scabbing, you’ve made that so clear that it’s scabbing.

‘Now all of a sudden, movie stars where they promise they’ll only sell it if X Y and Z. That’s called the end of the strike motherf**ckers.’

Sarah captioned her video: ‘Set me straight and I’ll take this down. What am I not getting?#UnionStrong #WGA #sagaftra.’

Furious: ‘Some of my friends are saying ”yes” [to working on indie films] and I’m really p**sed…What the f**k? t’s scabbing, you’ve made that so clear that it’s scabbing’

Oh!Zooey Deschanel commented with her views

Yikes! Her comment was met with much backlash from fellow entertainment industry workers

In the comments, Zooey Deschanel noted that the strike doesn’t call for the halting of all work — just against ‘certain particular contractual agreements with the AMPTP.’

The AMPTP is short for the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

Her comment was met with much backlash from fellow entertainment industry workers.

It’s been over two weeks since major industrial action by SAG-AFRA, which represents around 160,000 across the US, started.

The union failed to agree new contracts with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) and juraganfilm united with striking members of WGA, which began industrial action on May 2.
